Knowl Green Solar Park

British Solar Renewables (BSR) received planning permission in December 2024 for the development of a 49.99MW solar park on Land at Bakers Road, Belchamp St Paul [Planning application reference: 23/01413/FUL]. The site is located 1km northwest of Belchamp St. Paul Village in Essex. The development will boost green energy generation in Braintree.

Construction is scheduled to begin on-site on Monday 1 September 2025. Ahead of this, we are holding a drop-in event with the local community so they can find out more about our construction plans. More information on the event and the construction period can be found on the ‘Construction and Operation’ page.

BSR North Farm Solar Park, Dorset

Given the current cost of living crisis, which includes soaring energy prices and concerns around energy security, providing locally sourced clean, green, and reliable energy production is more vital than ever. Additionally, Braintree District Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and the central Government has set out ambitious targets to ensure the United Kingdom is net zero by 2050. In order to meet this target and to address the climate emergency, the shift away from polluting fossil fuel sources towards green energy production options, such as solar developments, is needed urgently.

BSR Energy is passionate about playing its part to help the UK make the change towards renewable sources. The time to take action and mitigate against any further damage to our planet is now. Knowl Green Solar Park will have an export capacity of up to 49.99MW. This energy will be fed directly into the grid via an underground cable route and substation connection.
